![]() "you have to go live with daddy " ::: 24 " x 30 " ::: July 2008 I used to have these fantasies about my parents getting a divorce. They used to fight like crazy and I hated it growing up. Instead of splitting up they bought a boat. This piece is part of a new series that I just started. i'm taking my inspiration from Highlights magazines, Free To Be, You and Me and old 1970's diagrams on how to bruch your teeth. ARTIST STATEMENT ::: danyol was born in 1970 in Orange County, California just a stone’s throw away from Disneyland. Growing up he nourished himself on a steady diet of pop art, cubism, and sarcasm. While using equal parts nostalgia and current events together, danyol’s pop-influenced mixed media paintings explore the liminal spaces between surface and emotion; gender role, responsibility and reality; along with other inconsistencies in our fragile social fabric.
